As soon as you become a citizen of Whyville, you can open your own checking and savings accounts. Visit Bankinter, Whyville's own bank, on the map or via the Destination Menu.
To open an account, go inside and talk to the teller. She'll help you open an account and set a secret password so that only you can see your bank balance.
Your balance is made up of clams, Whyville's currency. Each time you earn clams for playing a game or receiving your salary , the clams will be deposited into your checking account. Move them into your savings account to earn interest. In order to purchase items like face parts or projectiles with your clams, you'll need to have them in your checking account, however! When you have a good amount of clams saved up, you'll be able to purchase a CD or "certificate of deposit.
If you buy a CD, some of your clams will be locked away for a certain amount of time, 2, 4, or 6 weeks and you won't have access to them. However, during that deposit period, you'll earn a HUGE amount of interest, and at the end of the deposit period, you'll get all your money back plus the interest. It's a great deal, if you have the clams to spare.
To buy a CD, you'll have to visit the bank in person. If you just want to check your balance, click the piggy bank icon at the top of any screen, or you can use the teller machine outside the bank.
